The Village of Newark is pleased to announce that Matthew Bouwens has been promoted to the position of Working Foreman in the Village’s Department of Public Works where he will assist with overseeing the daily operations of the workforce.  Matt started with the DPW in 2012 as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He maintains a Grade D water operator’s certification.  The Village has designated Matt as the water operator in responsible charge for our water distribution system. Matt has worked across all areas within the DPW but spends most of his time on water and sewer maintenance.  He will oversee the Village’s cross-connection control and backflow prevention program as part of his daily duties along with several other areas within the DPW. Matt lives in Newark with his wife Gretchen and children Hudson and Lincoln.  The Village looks forward to Matt taking on these new responsibilities.

Mayor Jonathan Taylor stated, “We are pleased that Matt has accepted the position of Working Foreman. His historical knowledge and wide range of experience within the DPW will be of great benefit in his new leadership role.”
